PBKS vs DC, IPL 2024: Sam Curran Stars As Punjab Down Delhi In Mullanpur By 4 Wickets

England and Punjab Kings all-rounder Sam Curran starred with a rollicking knock of 63 and an equally sensational unbroken partnership with Liam Livingstone to take their side past the Delhi Capitals in Match 2 of IPL 2024. With a stiff 175 to win, Shikhar Dhawan and Jonny Bairstow set a decent tone for the run-chase before Cuuran, Prabhsimran Singh, Livingstone chipped in with crucial contributions.

Punjab Kings produced a good performance with the ball to restrict Delhi Capitals to 174 for 8 in their first match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Put into bat, the DC batting lineup struggled against the PBKS bowlers but still managed to reach a par score on this new stadium in Punjab.

Abhishek Porel's unbeaten 32 off 10 balls was the highlight of the innings as he smashed 25 runs in the final over bowled by Harshal Patel. Shai Hope top-scored for DC with 33 runs while the returning Rishabh Pant made 18 off 13 balls.

For the home team, Patel and Arshdeep Singh bagged a couple of wickets each while Kagiso Rabada, Harpreet Brar and Rahul Chahar took one each.

For DC, captain Rishabh Pant is back leading the team. He will be playing his first competitive cricket match after 672 days since his horrific car crash on the Delhi-Dehradun highway.

Pant in fact, said at the toss that he actually wanted to bat first. He also opened up on his comeback to the sport.

"We would have batted first. The wicket looks a little on the slower side. Really emotional time for me. Just want to enjoy the moment. Not thinking much. I think not worried about last season. Really exciting times. We have been preparing well. Four overseas batters for us - Shai Hope, Mitchell Marsh, David Warner & Tristan Stubbs," Pant confirmed.
