India’s rising cricket star Nitish Kumar Reddy is facing a major off-field crisis just days after being ruled out of the ongoing India vs England Test series due to injury. The all-rounder has now been served with a legal notice by his former sports management agency, Square The One, over alleged non-payment of dues amounting to ₹5 crore.

The controversy stems from Reddy’s sudden decision to cut ties with the agency, which had represented him from 2021 until the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Square The One claims that it played a pivotal role in helping Nitish build his brand profile and secure endorsements before his breakthrough at the international level. The agency asserts that Reddy unilaterally ended the partnership during India’s tour of Australia and later aligned himself with the manager of another Indian teammate.

According to a report from India Today, the dispute turned legal after Reddy refused to pay the outstanding amount, insisting that he had personally secured the endorsement deals. A source close to the case remarked, “Ninety percent of such disputes do not reach court and are resolved privately. But in this case, Nitish refused to pay any money and claimed he had secured the deals himself.”

The case has been filed under Section 11(6) of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act and alleges breach of the management agreement. A hearing is scheduled to take place in the Delhi High Court on July 28.

This legal trouble compounds Reddy’s challenges, as he is currently recovering from injury and has been ruled out of the remainder of the Test series. What was already a frustrating moment in his career has now become significantly more complex, with legal and financial consequences looming large.

'He Has Received Some Flak...': Sanjay Manjrekar Praises Shubman Gill's Mental Toughness Amid Captaincy Criticism During IND Vs ENG 4th Test

On Day 4 of the fourth Test between India and England at Old Trafford, veteran commentator and former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar offered strong words of support for Shubman Gill’s performance with the bat. Taking to social media, Manjrekar acknowledged the scrutiny Gill has faced over his leadership but emphasized the composure and resilience he showed while batting.

“Gill has received some flak for his captaincy but Gill the batter is looking really good today! Had some trouble with the stump line but mentally looking a real tough cookie. In the end, that’s all that matters & what makes you a 100 Tests cricketer,” Manjrekar tweeted.

Gill has looked composed during a testing phase of the match. Despite facing pressure both as captain and batter, he showcased solid technique and determination, particularly after taking a painful blow on his strapped right thumb from a rising delivery by Jofra Archer earlier in the day.

At the time of Manjrekar’s comment, Gill was batting on 52 not out, forging a steady partnership with KL Rahul as India looked to strengthen their position in a closely fought contest. The duo’s partnership has provided India with much-needed stability in the second innings.

Manjrekar’s words strike a chord with many fans who recognize that temperament under pressure often defines great cricketers. While questions around Gill’s captaincy remain, his ability to remain unfazed and put in a determined batting effort could mark an important step in his development as both a leader and a long-term pillar in the Indian lineup.
