Sarfaraz Khan has sent a defiant message after being overlooked for India’s upcoming two-Test series against Sri Lanka. The batter took to Instagram and shared a picture from a movie with the caption, “I may not fit in, but I’ll fight with everything I’ve got.” The post quickly attracted attention from cricket fans. Although the batter did not explicitly mention the selectors or name chief selector Ajit Agarkar, the timing of the post led many fans to interpret it as a possible expression of his frustration over another omission.
Sarfaraz last represented India during the 2024 home Test series against New Zealand. He made a significant impact in that series, scoring 171 runs across six innings, but has not featured for the national side since then. Despite his absence, his latest post suggests that the 28-year-old remains determined to fight his way back into the Indian team.
His omission comes ahead of India’s two-Test tour of Sri Lanka, with the first Test scheduled to begin in Galle on August 15 and the second Test set to be played in Colombo from August 23. Sarfaraz will now have to continue making his case through domestic cricket and wait for another opportunity to return to the Test setup.
The timing of Sarfaraz’s post has also added intrigue, particularly with India facing an injury concern involving captain Shubman Gill. Gill suffered an impact injury to his right ring finger during practice and was ruled out of the first day of India’s warm-up game against Sri Lanka XI as a precaution. KL Rahul led India in his absence.
For Sarfaraz, however, the message appears to be less about the immediate selection setback and more about his determination to keep pushing. His cryptic words indicate that despite not currently fitting into India’s plans, he is unwilling to give up on his Test ambitions.
