Team India's manager R Devraj has left the camp abruptly from Dubai, leaving for Hyderabad due to a family bereavement. According to Cricbuzz, Devraj's mother had passed away on Sunday morning and he left for Hyderabad in no time. It remains unclear whether Devraj will return to the UAE again and the decision is expected before Tuesday's semi-final.
Devraj, who serves as the Secretary of Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA), received condolences from the association:
"With deep sorrow, we inform you that our Secretary Devraj's mother, Kamaleshwari garu, has passed away. May her soul rest in peace. Our heartfelt condolences to Devraj garu and his family," the HCA said in a statement.
The Men in Blue have been riding high, winning the first two matches against Bangladesh and Pakistan comfortably. They are currently playing against New Zealand in Dubai as they aim to defend 249 after the Kiwis won the toss and opted to bowl first. Right-arm seamer Matt Henry's fifer restricted Rohit Sharma and co. to 249/9 in their stipulated 50 overs.
Team India to face Australia in the semi-final if they beat New Zealand
Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma and co. will face Australia should they manage to beat New Zealand on Sunday in Dubai. If they lose, South Africa will be waiting for them in the semis.
Australia and South Africa have notably reached Dubai and are training in the city ahead of a potential semi-final at the Dubai International Stadium.
