Palaash Mapara suffered his first loss in Round 6 of the All India Chess Masters 2026, going down to Shreyansh Somaiya and losing the sole lead. Shreyansh, Shriram Mhasane, and Rajveer Nahar now jointly lead the standings with 5.5 points each.

Mumbai, April 2: Overnight sole leader Palaash Mapara (5 points) saw his winning run come to a grinding halt as he suffered a defeat against Shreyansh Somaiya (5.5 points) in a Round-6 match of the All India Chess Masters (Season 3) Mumbai FIDE Classical Tournament 2026.
Shreyansh outplays Palaash on top board
Playing on the top board with white pieces, Palaash was unable to counter Shreyansh's clever tactical manoeuvres and suffered his first loss at the Mumbai Chess Centre, Pedder Road, on Thursday.
Three players share the lead
Shreyansh, along with Shriram Mhasane and AGM Rajveer Nahar, all with 5.5 points each, jointly share the lead.
