Zilla Parishad Distributes Hearing Aids Worth ₹53 Lakhs To 346 Students With Disabilities In Jalgaon | Sourced

Jalgaon: Through the Department of Disability Welfare of the Jalgaon Zilla Parishad, and under the ZP Cess Fund for the year 2025–26, a total of 692 high-quality hearing aids were distributed to 346 students with disabilities. These students are studying in registered and recognised schools for the hearing-impaired across the district. The total value of the hearing aids is ₹53 lakhs. Speaking on the occasion, Meenal Karanwal, Chief Executive Officer of the Zilla Parishad, said that these hearing aids would significantly improve the students’ hearing abilities and make their educational journey smoother and more accessible.

A review meeting of the District Disability Committee was held on Monday at the District Collector’s office, chaired by District Collector and Committee Chairman Rohan Ghuge. During the meeting, a detailed review of various schemes related to the welfare of persons with disabilities was conducted.

She added that the initiative would support the overall development of students with disabilities and help integrate them into the social mainstream.

Approximately ₹53 lakh from the Zilla Parishad’s own revenue funds has been allocated and spent on this scheme, which is expected to benefit the educational and personal development of these 346 students. Present at the meeting were Chief Executive Officer Meenal Karanwal; District Civil Surgeon Dr Swapnil Sangole; Assistant Commissioner of Social Welfare Yogesh Patil; Municipal Joint Commissioner Janardan Pawar; Officer for the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Padmanabh Mhaske; and representatives from various organisations working for persons with disabilities.

A ceremonial distribution event was also held during the meeting. Hearing aids were distributed to students at the hands of District Collector Rohan Ghuge and Chief Executive Officer Meenal Karanwal. Through such initiatives, the Zilla Parishad, Jalgaon, continues efforts to bring positive change in the quality of life of persons with disabilities.
