Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has strongly condemned the horrific rape incident at Swargate Bus Stand in Pune, calling it “tragic, distressing, and shameful for a civilized society.” He stated that the crime committed by the accused is unforgivable and warrants nothing less than the death penalty.
“I have personally directed the Pune Police Commissioner to take immediate action, ensure a thorough investigation, and arrest the accused without delay. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has also taken the matter seriously and has issued necessary instructions to the police. The government will take all necessary steps to ensure the accused is swiftly arrested and given the harshest punishment as per the law,” Pawar assured.

He further emphasised the state government's commitment to justice, psychological support, and assistance for the survivor. Instructions have been issued to the Minister for Women and Child Development and the Chairperson of the State Women’s Commission to extend full support to the victim.
