Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation, Murlidhar Mohol, on Friday met Union Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in the national capital regarding the expansion plans of Pune Metro.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Mohol said he discussed in detail the need to accelerate the metro projects in Pune with Khattar. He urged the senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader to expedite the process of tabling the proposal before the Union Cabinet for the Ramwadi to Wagholi and Vanaz to Chandni Chowk stretches, and also sought the Public Investment Board’s (PIB) clearance for the proposed metro route from Kharadi to Khadakwasla via Hadapsar and Swargate.

"The Maharashtra government has approved the extension of the metro route from Vanaz to Chandni Chowk and Ramwadi to Wagholi. The PIB gave clearance to the extended route on March 11. It only awaits the Union Cabinet’s approval, so it’s a request to table it in the Cabinet as early as possible," he added.
"The state government has also approved the proposal for the second phase of Pune Metro, which includes the Kharadi to Khadakwasla route via Hadapsar and Swargate, and Nal Stop to Manikbaug via Warje. This phase is awaiting clearance from the PIB. As soon as it gets clearance, it could be tabled before the Union Cabinet for approval," Mohol further wrote.

"We are trying to get the new proposed routes on track as soon as possible. Efforts are underway to speed up the construction of the metro network throughout the city. We had positive discussions with Khattar, and I am confident that a positive decision will be taken soon in this regard," he concluded.
