Pune Crime: Auto Driver Robs Delhi Businessman Of ₹34,500 Via UPI, Cash On Way Back From Bhimashankar In Forest

A businessman from Delhi was allegedly robbed by an auto-rickshaw driver at knifepoint after visiting Bhimashankar from Pune. The incident took place on Saturday between 9:15 am and 4:30 pm.
The victim, Suresh Chandra Chauhan (69), a resident of Badarpur, South Delhi, lodged a complaint at Bund Garden Police Station.
According to police, Chauhan had come to Pune for work and exited from the parcel gate of Pune railway station around 9:30 am. He was approached by an auto-rickshaw driver, who offered to take him to Bhimashankar for darshan. The fare was fixed in advance, and the two left around 9:15 am.
They reached Bhimashankar by 1 pm. After darshan, they started their return journey at around 4 pm. On the way back, the rickshaw driver took a forest route and asked Chauhan to get down. He then threatened him with a knife, forced him to transfer ₹19,500 through Google Pay and took ₹15,000 in cash from his pocket.
The driver then fled, leaving Chauhan stranded in the forest. Chauhan managed to get help from passers-by and returned to Pune, where he filed a police complaint.
Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the parcel gate area of Pune railway station to trace the suspect.
Daund robbery and assualt
Earlier this month, five days after the sexual assault of a 17-year-old girl and robbery on a highway in Daund taluka of Maharashtra's Pune district, police arrested two men in connection with the case, an official said.
The duo was apprehended from Pune district, he said.
The shocking incident had occurred in the wee hours of Monday on the highway near Bhigwan in Daund when a group of people was travelling in a car to the temple town of Pandharpur in neighbouring Solapur district, the police have said.
