Nashik: NSUI Protests Over Education System Irregularities, Demands Dada Bhuse’s Resignation

Nashik: The National Students' Union of India (NSUI), Maharashtra, has organised a protest and submitted a memorandum to the District Collector's office. The protest addresses critical issues within the state's education system, irregularities in examination and recruitment processes, and various demands concerning student welfare.

The NSUI memorandum states that Maharashtra's education system is facing an unprecedented crisis. The academic and professional futures of students are at risk due to recurring paper leaks, recruitment scams, flaws in the examination system, unresolved academic issues, the burden of excessive non-teaching government work imposed on teachers, and the declining quality of education.

Incidents such as paper leaks, allegations of irregularities, cancellations, and delays in competitive exams and recruitment drives, including NEET, MHT-CET, and recruitment for teachers, police, and Talathis (revenue officials), have caused immense academic, financial, and mental distress to lakhs of students. Complaints regarding errors in the 'Shalarth' ID management system have also surfaced. These factors have eroded the confidence of students, parents, and society in the education system.

Key Demands of NSUI:

1. Education Minister Dada Bhuse should immediately resign, accepting moral responsibility for the chaos and irregularities within the education system.

2. A dedicated "Student Charter" modelled after the Citizens' Charter should be implemented to safeguard students' academic, administrative, and fundamental rights.

3. The government should regulate the fees charged by CBSE schools in the state.

4. A thorough inquiry should be conducted into complaints regarding MKD Nursing College, and strict action should be taken immediately against those responsible.

5. The fee structure for cluster universities should be reduced, and increased financial funding should be made available to them. 6. An independent regulatory body should be established to bring the fees of all private coaching classes in the state under government control.

7. A special "Marathi School Rehabilitation Campaign" should be implemented immediately to protect, preserve, and revitalise Marathi-medium schools.

8. Teachers should be relieved of additional government duties and encouraged to focus on full-time teaching.

While signing the memorandum, NSUI’s Sagar Salunkhe stated that education is a fundamental right of every student. He demanded immediate and stringent measures to address issues such as paper leaks, recruitment scams, the growing commercialisation of education, and the prevailing systemic chaos.
