Nashik: Hostel Subsistence Allowance To Be Increased, States Tribal Development Minister Dr Ashok Uike

Students residing in government hostels currently receive a monthly subsistence allowance of ₹500 at the taluka level and ₹800 at the district level, with an additional ₹100 special allowance for female students. However, this amount has been deemed insufficient, and plans are underway to increase the allowance. Maharashtra Tribal Development Minister Dr Ashok Uike announced that a proposal has been requested from the Commissionerate to revise the allowance amount.

Dr Uike made this announcement during his recent visit to the government girls' hostel in Trimbakeshwar. He interacted with the students, addressing their concerns and reviewing the security, physical, and health facilities at the hostel. He also discussed scholarship schemes and instructed the relevant officers to ensure that all necessary facilities are provided to the hostel residents.

In response to a student request for recreational materials, Dr Uike directed officers to immediately provide such materials to all hostels across the state. Additional Commissioner (Headquarters) Sandeep Golait, Joint Director of Accounts and Treasury Department Kapil Pawar, Assistant Project Officer Sunil Kotwal, and Homekeeper Sayali Bachal were also present during the visit. Dr Uike expressed satisfaction with the hostel's day-to-day operations.

The students were deeply touched by the direct interaction with a state cabinet minister. During the engaging and lighthearted session, Dr Uike encouraged them to prepare for competitive exams, pursue higher education, and aspire to become administrative officers.
