“Western countries have achieved success by adopting new technologies. Countries like the US have progressed as they spend 650 billion dollars on research and technology. The universities in such countries invest heavily in research,” opined Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal.
He was speaking during the third convocation function of the Mahatma Gandhi Mission (MGM) University here on Saturday. Social worker Medha Patkar was conferred with the D.Litt degree on the occasion. Sibal further said that the students who received their degrees today should always be grateful to those who have greatly contributed to their success, including their parents, relatives, friends, and teachers.
“We are heading to a new world today and facing several challenges in our day-to-day lives. We should always be prepared to face such challenges and develop new methods to tackle them. This will help us succeed in both our personal and professional lives. On the other hand, we should always be aware of our duties and responsibilities towards society and the country,” Sibal advised the students.
A total of 1,284 students were conferred with degrees. Vice Chancellor Dr. Sapkal made an introductory speech, while Chancellor Ankushrao Kadam delivered the presidential address.
