Water Crisis Alert In Vasai Virar, Week Long Supply Disruption From April 4

Residents have been urged to use water carefully as officials manage distribution through scheduled zoning during the shutdown period.

Residents of Vasai Virar are set to face a temporary water crisis as the city’s municipal corporation announced a seven day disruption in supply under the Surya Yojana. The shutdown will begin from April 4 and continue until April 10 to facilitate technical work linked to the second phase of the project.
The move is expected to impact daily water availability across several parts of the city.
Supply shortfall and pressure concerns
At present, the municipal corporation requires around 400 million litres of water daily. However, during the shutdown period, supply from a key source will be completely halted, leading to a shortfall of nearly 150 million litres.
Officials have warned that this will result in low pressure and inadequate supply in many areas. To manage the situation, water will be distributed through a zonal system to ensure fair allocation.
Area wise water cuts planned
According to the schedule, different areas will face 24 hour water cuts on specific days. Virar East and West, Nalasopara East and West, and Navghar Vasai are among the zones that will see supply interruptions on a rotational basis.
Each affected area will experience a full day shutdown between 10 am and 10 am the following day, depending on the schedule assigned.
Advisory for residents
Authorities have urged residents to store water in advance and use it sparingly during the disruption period. Citizens have also been advised to cooperate with civic officials and avoid wastage.
The civic body has assured that normal supply will resume once the technical work is completed, and efforts are being made to minimise inconvenience during the transition.

Each zone will face a 24 hour water cut from 10 am to 10 am the next day.
