Mumbai: A member of Saif Ali Khan’s household picked out the man accused of attacking the Bollywood actor at his residence in Bandra (West), in a police line-up on Wednesday.
Eliyama Philip, 56, who is also known as Lima, is the main complainant in the case. She confirmed that Shariful Islam, 30, was the same person who intruded into Khan’s residence on January 16 and attacked her and the actor.
It is not yet clear whether the police will also take Khan to jail for an identity parade. So far, the facial recognition report has come back positive and fingerprint and blood reports are awaited.
On January 16, at 2am, an intruder entered Khan’s younger son Jahangir’s room and attacked his two nannies, Lima and Geeta, and demanded money. Khan heard the commotion and came to Jeh’s room, and attempted to intervene, but the intruder allegedly attacked and stabbed him six times. Following the attack, the actor was admitted to Lilavati Hospital.
The police arrested Islam on January 19. However, several people on social media questioned whether the real culprit had been arrested. Media reports suggested that the fingerprints collected from the actor’s house did not match those of Islam.
However, a facial recognition test came back positive, matching Islam’s face with CCTV images. Now Lisa has also confirmed that Islam was the person who intruded into the residence and carried out the attack.
