Panvel: Panvel municipal corporation held a meeting to address the growing concern over unqualified medical practitioners in their jurisdiction. The meeting was held on July 3 at the Samaj Kendra in Kamothe.
The session brought together presidents and office bearers of private medical practitioners' associations from across Panvel, including Kharghar, Kamothe, Kalamboli, Khanda Colony, and Panvel city. The agenda focused on identifying fake doctors operating in the municipal area and implementing government directives to initiate strict action against them.
Attendees were informed about instructions received from the Directorate of Health Services regarding certification checks and outlined the action plan being put in place.
"A municipal-level committee has already been constituted with the Medical Health Officer as secretary. Ward-level zonal committees have also been formed to carry out ground inspections," informed an official.
These committees were informed of visiting clinics of private practitioners in their respective areas to verify medical qualifications. Any discrepancies will be reported to the municipal committee, and in cases where fake doctors are found, criminal proceedings will be initiated.
The administration appealed to all practitioners to cooperate with officials and ensure transparency in documentation. “This meeting marks the beginning of a serious drive to protect citizens from unlicensed and potentially harmful medical practices,” said the medical officer.
