Mumbai: Ex-Armyman strangles wife to death, goes to work; surrenders in evening

Mumbai: The Ghatkopar police arrested a 40-year-old man for allegedly stabbing his wife to death after an argument broke out between the couple.

According to the police, the incident happened on Tuesday morning at around 6 am when the accused Santosh Mistry reached home in an inebriated condition. Like other days, the couple fought this day as well.

Police sources confirmed that Mistry, before reaching home, was roaming around the vicinity with a knife in his hand. After the heated argument, Mistry stabbed his wife multiple times. The victim Namita Santosh Mistry, immediately fell to the ground, losing consciousness.

The neighbours, who heard the loud screams of Namita, alerted the police. However, the police, even before receiving the tip from neighbours from the control room, had received the information by Mistry himself.

Mistry, after stabbing his wife, kept roaming around the vicinity holding the same knife before entering the Ghatkopar police station, where he surrendered himself and confessed to the crime.

He was immediately arrested and a team was sent on the spot. The victim was taken to Rajawadi hospital by the police, however, she was declared dead before arrival.

Mistry, before taking a profession of a gym trainer, worked in the Indian Army and even as a BEST Bus driver, the police sources said. A murder case has been registered against him.
