Navi Mumbai: NMMC Launches Anti-Encroachment Drive In Airoli, Koparkhairane & Nerul
The action was initiated after concerned parties failed to respond to the notices issued by the Encroachment Department.

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) encroachment Department carried out an anti-encroachment drive in Airoli, Koparkhairane, and Nerul to remove unauthorized constructions.
The action was initiated after concerned parties failed to respond to the notices issued by the Encroachment Department.
In the Airoli division under the jurisdiction unauthorized RCC buildings were constructed at Sector 1, Shiv Colony, House Nos. 1999 and 2000, as well as at J-205, Sector 3, Airoli, without obtaining any permissions from the corporation.
" Notices were issued under Section 54 of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966, instructing the concerned parties to remove the unauthorized constructions themselves.
However, the construction continued. Consequently, an encroachment removal operation was conducted on January 3, 2025, and the unauthorized constructions were partially demolished," said an officer.

In the demolition drive at Airoli, the department recovered a penalty of Rs 2,25,000, in the second operation partial demolition of the unauthorized structures was carried out .
In the Nerul demolition drive , officials observed that unauthorized RCC construction measuring approximately 3.80m x 7.70m (G+2) and 3.40m x 6.70m (G+4) was being carried out at two houses in sector 2.
" Notices were issued to the unauthorized constructors by the Nerul Division Office under Section 54 of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966, on 08/10/2024 and 10/12/2024. when they failed to remove the encroachments on friday these were demolished," said the officer.
