The accused, Sujitkumar Madankumar Singh, aged 30, was arrested from Khagaria district in Bihar after an extensive investigation.
The fraud was reported between January 16, 2024, and August 8, 2024, when the accused and his accomplices conspired to deceive the builder by promising substantial profits in share trading. By gaining the victim's trust and offering lucrative returns, they convinced him to transfer Rs 14.89 into various bank accounts. A case was subsequently registered at the Cyber Police Station, Navi Mumbai.
During the investigation, technical analysis of the mobile numbers used in the fraud revealed that the accused was based in Khagaria, Bihar. Interrogation revealed that Sujitkumar Singh had been directly involved in the crime. Further revelations from the investigation indicated that Singh had travelled to Cambodia twice—between June 2023 and January 2024, and again between February and June 2024. While in Cambodia, he worked in a call center operated by Chinese nationals and engaged in cyber fraud schemes targeting Indian citizens.
“He was found to have procured Indian SIM cards, which were supplied to his accomplices in Cambodia, and maintained contact with Chinese nationals through Telegram groups.
