Mumbai: Passengers aboard an IndiGo flight from Mumbai to Varanasi faced unexpected delays on Saturday as the aircraft remained stationed on the runway for over an hour, triggering frustration and confusion among travellers.
The flight, which was scheduled for a routine departure from Mumbai Airport, did not take off on time and was instead held on the runway without clear communication from the airline staff, according to a passenger on board.
Umesh Mishra, one of the passengers, posted a video of the incident on social media, showing the tense moments inside the aircraft. In the clip, an IndiGo air hostess can be seen attempting to stop Mishra from recording, stating that the delay was due to 'technical testing.'
The airline has not yet issued an official statement on the reason for the extended delay. However, Mishra and several other passengers expressed their frustration at the lack of transparency and communication during the ordeal.
“We were just kept waiting with no real explanation. If there was a genuine issue, we deserved to know. Instead, they tried to stop us from even filming or speaking about it,” Mishra said in his post.
The incident raises fresh questions about communication protocols during flight delays and the rights of passengers to document their experiences onboard.
This is not the first time domestic carriers have come under scrutiny for on-ground delays and customer handling. Aviation watchdogs may take note of the episode as passengers continue to demand accountability and timely updates during disruptions.
