Mumbai: The Siddhivinayak temple in Prabhadevi, a popular place of worship in Mumbai, is set to undergo a ₹500-crore transformation. The development plan for the temple envisages facilities for Ganesh devotees, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde informed on Thursday.

He also reviewed six redevelopment projects in Prabhadevi. Shinde further said, those developers who had abandoned redevelopment projects and failed to pay rent to displaced residents would be replaced. If necessary, changes would be made to the rules and regulations, to provide affordable and spacious homes for the public.

He further said that discussions would be held with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and such decisions would be put forth before the cabinet. A collective redevelopment plan will be implemented through the coordination of the SRA, MHADA, MIDC, MMRDA, CIDCO, and BMC, Shinde said.

Through this collective redevelopment, basic amenities such as gardens, healthcare facilities, open spaces, and more would be made available, Shinde added. The government will soon introduce a housing policy that will aim to house senior citizens, students, working women, and millworkers through the MHADA, offering affordable housing and rental options.
