Heavy Rainfall In City And Raigad District Throughout Night
Mumbai and especially the surrounding district of Raigad received heavy rainfall on the intervening night of July 18-19. Water-logging in Raigad and some parts of Virar and Vasai was reported early on Wednesday morning.
According to the forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the city of Mumbai and its surrounding suburbs have been issued an 'orange' alert until July 19, Wednesday. This alert signifies the possibility of 'heavy' to 'very heavy' rainfall in isolated areas. However, the rains could also impact the city on Thursday and Friday.

Nagothane, a census town in Roha Taluka, in the Raigad district of Maharashtra, saw flooding after river Amba breached its limits on intervening night of July 18-19.

CM Shinde relieves all government employees early as severe rains lash capital Mumbai.
Chief Minister on Wednesday said that there is heavy rain in the state and all the entire government machinery has been instructed to be ready to avoid any untoward incident. The Chief Minister was talking to the media at Vidhan Bhavan. He has appealed to the citizens not to go out without necessary work and stay in safe places.
Since morning, we have spoken to the Chief Secretary and some District Collectors and have given instructions to the administration that the citizens should not be inconvenienced and in case of any calamity, immediate relief and rescue work should be started, the CM said. NDRF as well as SDRF units are deployed. The Chief Minister also said that the officials and employees of all the government offices including the Ministry in Mumbai and its surroundings have been sent home early.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is currently at the BMC disaster management office, conducting a comprehensive review of the monsoon situation and assessing the assistance provided by the BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation).
The Waldhuni River near Vithalwadi Railway Station in Kalyan is currently experiencing overflow, resulting in police intervention to restrict vehicles from proceeding towards Ulhasnagar and Shreeram. As a result, traffic is being diverted to the Waldhuni Bridge. An ambulance is present at the scene to provide assistance if needed.

CM Shinde visited the control room of the Ministry's Disaster Management Department and took stock of the situation in the flood-prone areas of the state. On this occasion, the Chief Minister took stock the situation in Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Pune, Satara and Gadchiroli. He also directed the administration to keep the district level disaster management system alert.
All schools in rain-hit districts of Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Palghar, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg will be closed on July 20.
