High Alert After Nagpur Violence & Security Drills In Sensitive Areas

Following recent violent clashes in Nagpur, Mumbai Police have remained on high alert, especially ahead of upcoming festivals such as Eid and Gudi Padwa. In preparation, the MIDC police conducted a mock drill and route march in the Marol Makhwan Nagar area on March 22. The riot control unit carried out these drills to test their preparedness for any law-and-order disturbances.

The security exercise took place in Andheri East, an area identified as a sensitive zone, with active participation from personnel of the MIDC and Andheri police stations. According to reports, nearly 60 to 70 police personnel, including officers and firefighters, took part in the drill. The simulation aimed to train officers in handling real-time emergency responses similar to the recent Nagpur violence. The police practiced rapid deployment, crowd management, and containment strategies to mitigate potential threats effectively.

With Ramadan, Gudi Padwa, and Navratri approaching, authorities fear that tensions could escalate in certain regions. To prevent unrest, additional police forces have been deployed in sensitive areas across the city.
