Mumbai Mega Block Alert! Local Train Services Between Churchgate & Mumbai Central To Get Affected On June 8 Due To Maintenance Work

Mumbai: The Western Railway announced a 5-hour mega block between Churchgate and Mumbai Central from 10:35 AM to 3:35 PM on Sunday, June 8. During the block, track, signalling, and overhead equipment maintenance work will be undertaken.

An announcement was made on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday regarding the Mega Block's impact on suburban trains. All slow-line trains will temporarily run on the fast lines. Additionally, some up and down suburban trains have been cancelled, and certain Churchgate trains will be short-terminated or reversed at Bandra/Dadar.

In a separate news story related to Mumbai local, a 27-year-old man, Dhila Rajesh Hamira, tragically lost his life on Thursday morning after falling from a moving local train while allegedly trying to disembark from the wrong side.

The incident occurred around 10:00 AM near Platform 4 of Mumbai Central station. Hamira’s neck got entangled in the railway divider fencing located between the UP fast line and the Suburban Train Avoidance (STA) line. He was found hanging from the iron spikes of the divider.

Eyewitnesses who were travelling in the same coach reported that Hamira attempted to disembark from the moving train from the incorrect side, leading to the fatal mishap. He sustained severe injuries and was declared dead at the spot.

The railway police and station authorities were immediately alerted following the incident. An ambulance reached the spot by 10:14 AM, and Hamira was rushed to Nair Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

An official from the Government Railway Police (GRP) stated, “The deceased worked at a tailoring shop in Pydhonie and resided in Jogeshwari East. The fatal mishap occurred while he was travelling to his workplace.” The official further informed that Hamira was originally from Gujarat and was unmarried. After the post-mortem, the body was handed over to his family.
