Mumbai has taken another step forward in its infrastructure growth, with several major projects by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) inaugurated on Thursday by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
The newly inaugurated facilities aim to improve transport efficiency, ease congestion, and enhance urban living for residents across the city.
Major Projects Opened
Among the highlights was the new building of the Metro Training Institute at Mandale, designed to strengthen the training capacity for Mumbai Metro operations. The Santacruz–Chembur Link Road (Phase 1), expected to significantly cut travel time between the two busy suburbs, was also opened to the public.
In Malvani, a staff housing building was inaugurated, providing improved living facilities for MMRDA personnel. At Kalanagar Junction, one of Mumbai’s most notorious traffic bottlenecks, the Arm D Flyover has been completed to help decongest the area.
The CM also inaugurated a 5.25 km-long promenade and pedestrian underpass along the Dharmaveer SwarajyaRakshak Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Mumbai Coastal Road (South), giving citizens enhanced waterfront access and improved pedestrian safety.
Dignitaries in Attendance
Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, along with Minister Adv Ashish Shelar and other senior officials, attended the event, underlining the projects’ importance in Mumbai’s development plan.
Speaking at the ceremony, CM Fadnavis said the newly opened infrastructure would “transform commuting experiences, strengthen connectivity, and add to the quality of life for Mumbaikars.”
