The Deonar police have arrested a cricket coach, Rajendra Nanasaheb Pawar,37, on charges of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl who was his trainee. Pawar, was taken into custody on August 5. This is not the first time Pawar has been on the police radar; he was also an accused in a molestation case registered in 2023 at the same police station.

Mumbai: The Deonar police have arrested a cricket coach, Rajendra Nanasaheb Pawar,37, on charges of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl who was his trainee. Pawar, was taken into custody on August 5. This is not the first time Pawar has been on the police radar; he was also an accused in a molestation case registered in 2023 at the same police station.
About The Case
According to the police, the victim, a resident of Ghatkopar, was attending Pawar’s cricket academy located on a ground in the Govandi area near the Ghatkopar-Mankhurd Link Road. The police report states that Pawar allegedly befriended the girl and then sexually assaulted her between May 28 and August 4.

The disturbing incidents came to light when the young girl confided in her family about the escalating harassment. Her family promptly filed a complaint, leading to Pawar's arrest. A case has been registered against him under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The investigation is ongoing.
