Mumbai: BMC to provide management courses to 100 school principals
BMC will bear the cost of the entire course which will be for three months.

The Education Department of the BMC has decided to give management courses to 100 principals of civic body-run schools. The intention behind the course is to develop leadership skills which will help them tackle various issues in their day-to-day affairs.
BMC will bear the cost of the entire course which will be for three months. Jamnalal Bajaj Institute, one of the leading institutes of Management studies will conduct a certificate course for the principles.
Ajit Kumbhar, Joint Commissioner of BMC said, "Principals of BMC-run schools have to face many challenges while working at the school. They have to tackle issues like tussles among teachers, parents-teachers associations grievances, coordination with BMC officers and students' issues. Our management course will help them to tackle such issues."
"Jamnalal Bajaj Institute has specially prepared this curriculum for the principals, even they are also keen to teach principals. Management-related games are also included in the curriculum," Kumbhar added.
In the last few years, the BMC has improved the standards of the government schools by including CBSE, ICSE, Cambridge, and International curricula in its schools.
Buildings of the schools have also been renovated with many schools having digital classrooms. BMC has also taken the decision to evaluate students and teachers. The civic body has claimed that this year around 35,000 new students enrolled in their schools.
