In a tragic incident, a 65-year-old woman was crushed to death by the alleged negligence of a crane operator in Bhayandar (east) on Wednesday evening. According to the police, the incident was reported near the Family Care Hospital located in the Indralok area of Bhayandar (east) at around 5:30 pm.
The identity of the deceased was yet to be ascertained as her son who works in Mumbai was yet to return to Bhayandar, said the police. However, prima facie investigations revealed that she worked as a clerk and had retired from the BMC a few years ago. She stayed in the same locality where the incident occurred. As a part of her daily routine, the senior citizen was out for an evening stroll on the fateful day.
As she was crossing the road, the over speeding and rashly driven crane veered off-course on the turning and hit her, leading to her death on the spot. The unfortunate mishap was captured in the closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras installed in the vicinity.
