Mumbai: Maharashtra has been experiencing ongoing weather changes for the past few weeks, featuring alternating periods of sunshine and rainfall. While some regions are suffering from high temperatures, others have seen unexpected rain showers, which have raised alarms for farmers.
The state continues to grapple with conditions resembling drought even as the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts more atypical rainfall in parts of Vidarbha today, April 16 and has issued a yellow alert for multiple districts. The weather agency indicates that Vidarbha is expected to experience rain along with lightning and thunderstorms.
The remainder of the state will stay overcast, with the possibility of extreme heatwave conditions in certain regions. Over the next two days, unseasonal rainfall is also anticipated in Marathwada, Vidarbha, and western Maharashtra. Residents and farmers have been advised to remain vigilant and take appropriate precautions.

In addition, thunderstorms with strong winds and lightning are anticipated in isolated locations across Buldhana, Akola, Amravati, Washim, Wardha, Nagpur, Bhandara, Gondia, Yavatmal, Chandrapur, and Gadchiroli.

The Nagpur Regional Meteorological Department has reported that unseasonal rain is likely in areas around Nagpur and Vidarbha over the next couple of days due to the formation of an upper air cyclonic circulation over Vidarbha and moisture-rich winds originating from the Bay of Bengal. While nighttime rainfall is anticipated in certain regions, it is unlikely to significantly influence daytime temperatures.
