In a bid to enhance administrative efficiency, the Maharashtra government has decided to appoint one Special Executive Officer (SEO) for every 500 voters, reducing the previous ratio of 1,000 voters per SEO. This move will lead to the appointment of approximately 1,94,000 SEOs, as announced by Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule.
A Government Resolution (GR) has been issued to formalize the decision, with selection committees set up in each district for the appointments. The existing SEOs will be replaced under this new system to improve the implementation of government schemes and services.
These SEOs will be authorized to issue certificates for various schemes, participate in committees, and oversee government tasks. Additionally, they will be granted 13 to 14 special powers, according to Minister Bawankule.
