In connection with 6500 residents of the KDMC region facing eviction before their homes are demolished, UBT's leader Dipesh Mhatre met with residents and assured them that he would help them.

Some of the residents visited Matoshree, met with Uddhav Thackeray, and discussed the issue.

Dipesh Mhatre, a leader from Kalyan UBT's faction, said that we will stand behind the residents as per the direction of Uddhav Thackeray. It is very regrettable that the local administration will demolish the building while the student of HSC and SSC exams are ongoing. He lamented that action has not been taken against those who forged documents and registrations. He reiterated that local political leaders have given backup to them, and hence no action has been taken.

Our party will stand with the residents, whether in legal proceedings or local administration proceedings. Aditya Thackeray will meet with CM Devendra Fadnavis about this issue in the upcoming days. He strongly reiterated that 40 percent of residents have received a benefit from the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. The official from the concerned department should have verified it properly.

According to KDMC officials, the 65 builders obtained Maha RERA certificates for their projects using forged documents. Thane’s Special Investigating Team (SIT) is probing the scam and has frozen their bank accounts. The HC had granted residents three months, which expired on February 3, and now the civic body will proceed with the demolition.Among the illegal buildings, residents of Sai Galaxy had filed a petition before the HC, which was dismissed on February 13.

KDMC then served eviction notices to 45 buildings, giving residents seven days to vacate before demolition begins. Activist and architect Sandeep Patil said some residents from four buildings had approached the HC for an interim order on December 19, 2024, after a judgment was passed on November 19, 2024. They argued that they had been cheated by the builder. The court had granted a stay until February 3, 2025, and advised them to regularise their structures. However, KDMC rejected their application due to FSI, margin violations, and other issues.

Sardar Patil, a retired police officer who was investigating the RERA scam case, said, "We have arrested 15 to 20 people, including a builder, developer, and landowner, and produced them in court. Subsequently, they were released on bail. We have filed a chargesheet in the court."
