Mumbai: BJP leader Mohit Kamboj on Saturday made several allegations against BMC administrator Iqbal Singh Chalal and said a file with details will be submitted to the Income Tax (IT) department for investigating the bureaucrat in connection with the raids on Shiv Sena's Yashwant Jadhav, former chairperson of the BMC’s standing committee.

Addressing a press conference at his Santacruz residence on Saturday, Kamboj said, “My request to the IT department is to not only conduct an investigation on politicians, but also the officers from the administration. If several wrongdoings are found in the case of Jadhav, the role of municipal commissioner should also be probed. In the BMC, nothing can be done without the help of administration or the officers because administration is the final authority.”

Kamboj also alleged that Chahal owns properties in the United States. “In three to four days, a detailed file will be submitted for investigation,” he said.

However, Chahal swiftly refuted the allegations. “I have zero properties in the US. It is so unfortunate that he is making baseless allegations,” he said, adding, “It is sad and unfortunate that he is trying to rope me in his political fight. I would request him to substantiate these wild allegations with exact details.”

Chahal added, “I request that he (Kamboj) should fight his political battle at the political level and not drag officers into it. Truth shall always prevail.”

Kamboj’s allegations have come in the backdrop of the BMC issuing several notices to him, including regarding a Santacruz building where he owns four floors. The BMC had also inspected the housing society in Khar on Wednesday. On Saturday, Kamboj also put a letter box outside his Khar building and said all the authorities can send in their notices by dropping them in this box.
