Mumbai: On the occasion of Bharatiya Janata Party's Foundation Day, party leaders across Mumbai and Maharashtra are celebrating the historic milestone of the saffron party. Party workers, including Nitin Gadkari and Ravindra Chavan, among others, participated on the occasion.

State President Ravindra Chavan on Monday hoisted the party flag at the headquarters in Mumbai, in the presence of party leaders and workers.

Speaking on the occasion, state vice president Keshav Upadhye, who was present there, said Maharashtra will turn festive as party offices are decorated and flags hoisted. He added that flags will be displayed in every booth across the state, and many workers will put the BJP flag in their homes.

In Pune, BJP leader Chandrashekhar Bawankule raised the party flag at the local BJP office, while in Nagpur, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari performed the flag hoisting ceremony. While addressing reporters, Gadkari said that the party is aimed to rebuild the nation and make India a Vishwaguru, adding that, "A lot of work has been done regarding this and today we have taken a pledge to continue doing this work in the future as well."

In Thane, Ashish Shelar addressed BJP office-bearers and workers and also hoisted the party flag at his residence.

Maha Leaders Extend Warm Wishes To Party Workers

CM Devendra Fadnavis took to social media and wrote, "Warm wishes to all karyakartas on the BJP Foundation Day who work tirelessly for the nation. Their service, discipline and commitment are the true pillars of this movement."

Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule stated on X, "Nation First, Then Party and Finally Self Heartfelt Greetings to All Workers on the Foundation Day of the Bharatiya Janata Party! 46 years of dedication. 46 years of the BJP. Heartiest wishes on the Foundation Day of the Bharatiya Janata Party!

Ameet Satam added, "Our party - the Bharatiya Janata Party - standing on the foundation of the labour and thoughts of millions of workers! Let us all work shoulder to shoulder to realise 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' in the vision of Prime Minister Hon. Shri. Narendra Modi ji and 'Agrani Maharashtra' in the vision of Chief Minister Hon. Shri. Devendra Fadnavis ji."

The Bharatiya Janata Party traces its origin to the Jana Sangh, which merged with the Janata Party after the Emergency in 1977 with the aim of defeating the Congress. Later, questions of dual membership arose between RSS members and the Jana Sangh, with the ask that either the Jana Sangh members should leave the Janata Party or their membership of RSS. The issue led to the Jana Sangh members leaving the Janata Party and officially founding the BJP on April 6, 1980. Since its formation, the BJP has produced two Prime Ministers, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Narendra Modi.
