Continuing its scathing verbal attack against the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena, city BJP chief Ashish Shelar has now ridiculed the party as 'chillar Sena' (petty group). This is the second time Shelar has called names to Sena as on Saturday he termed the party as 'penguin Sena'.
Sharpening his attack, the BJP leader asserted that Uddhav's party is against Mumbai's development, while levelling serious corruption charges. “If Mumbai is developed, how can it (Sena) demand hafta? How will it make money by floating tenders for filling up potholes and cleaning of drainage? How it will add (more space to) 'Matoshree'? Chillar Sena is tense,’’ he said.
He also replied to Sena’s allegation of shifting key projects to Gujarat from Mumbai. Shelar claimed that the BJP is committed to transform Mumbai with the implementation of several projects, including International Financial Services Center (IFSC) and seven Metro projects.
He also took a swipe at Yuva Sena chief Aaditya Thackeray, saying, “The Penguin Sena of pubs, pegs and party-goers is so addicted to making noise over shifting of projects to Gujarat from Mumbai. The IFSC will come up above the underground terminus of the Bullet train and seven metro corridors will be operational. Mumbai, the financial capital of the country, will be economically strong! We have decided.”
He further said that the BJP is a party that will always ensure that Hindu festivals are celebrated with the same pomp and fervour. It will continue to celebrate these festivals and will ensure that the celebrations are carried out without any hindrances. “Festivals are our soul. We are not like Hon'ble Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena to stop celebrating our Hindu festivals. BJP is a party that will always encourage the celebration of traditional festivals,’’ he said.
Even during the Covid period, BJP had ensured that festivals were celebrated uninterrupted. Immediately after the Corona crisis, BJP celebrated the Dahi Handi festival with great enthusiasm, he added.
