Mumbai: The final rites of Roshni Songhare, a 26-year-old cabin crew member who lost her life in the tragic Air India Flight A-171 crash in Ahmedabad, were held on Thursday in her hometown of Dombivali, near Mumbai. A wave of grief swept through the locality as hundreds gathered to bid a tearful farewell to the vibrant young woman.
Roshni’s mortal remains were brought to her family residence at Nav Umiya Krupa Society on Rajaji Path, Dombivali East. The atmosphere at her home was sombre, as family, friends, neighbours and local residents gathered to pay their last respects to her.

Beyond her duties as an Air India cabin crew member, Roshni was also a popular travel influencer on Instagram, where she posted under the handle @sky\_loves\_her. With over 95,000 followers and more than 1,000 posts, her profile showcased her passion for flying and travel, with snapshots from destinations across the globe. Her feed had become a source of inspiration for many young aviation enthusiasts.
Following the crash, Dr Shrikant Shinde, Member of Parliament from the Kalyan Lok Sabha constituency, expressed condolences on social media, stating, “Heartfelt tribute to Air India crew member and Dombivali resident Roshni Songhare... We pray to God that her family finds strength to bear this unimaginable loss.”
Roshni was among the 270 individuals, including 241 on the flight, who perished when Air India’s Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on June 12. The crash left only one survivor, Ramesh Vishwaskumar, who miraculously escaped by jumping clear of the aircraft.
