Palghar: An eight-year-old girl who was kidnapped from Sanjay Gandhi Nagar in Wada was successfully rescued within 48 hours by the police, with assistance from social groups. The accused, a history-sheeter identified as David alias Gurunath Mukne, had lured the child with a chocolate before abducting her.
Cops Launch Intensive Search Operation, Scan CCTVs
The girl's family reported her disappearance on the night of February 27, stating that she had been taken by an unknown man wearing a white shirt, black trousers and a white cap. With limited details available, police immediately launched an investigation, scanning CCTV footage from the area. Eventually, they found footage matching the suspect’s description, confirming his identity as Mukne, according to a Times of India report.
Senior Police Inspector Dattatray Kendre of Wada police station stated that despite relentless efforts, there were no leads until early Friday morning. "Till 4:30 am, we had no major clue, but around 5 am, one of our teams spotted the accused near Ainshet village with the minor and successfully rescued her," Kendre stated.
Child Fortunately Unharmed Due To Swift Arrest Of Accused
Mukne, a labourer at a brick kiln, had a criminal record, making him a person of interest for law enforcement. His swift capture prevented any potential harm to the child. The police credited the operation’s success to their coordinated search efforts and the support of local social organisations.
Following the rescue, the child was safely reunited with her family, and the accused was taken into custody. Authorities are now conducting further investigations into Mukne’s past crimes and possible motives behind the abduction.
