Mumbai: A 52-year-old man claimed to have lost Rs 10 lakh after his SIM was deactivated in an unauthorised manner. According to the police, the Nagpur resident noticed that there was no network on his phone; hence, his son used his phone's hotspot to activate the internet on the device.
As the signal bounced back, the complainant was shocked to receive messages about fraudulent transactions. He visited the bank and learned that Rs 10 lakh had been transferred from his account in four transactions.
The man then went to the phone gallery, where he was informed that his SIM card had been deactivated and the same number was issued to someone else.
