Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for strong winds and rainfall in 47 districts including Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, on Sunday.
Similar weather was witnessed on Saturday with severe storms hitting several districts causing mayhem in daily life.

Rain and strong winds are likely in Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, Morena, Bhind, Datia, Rewa, Panna, Damoh, Mandla, Balaghat, Seoni, Pandhurna, Chhindwara, Narsinghpur, Sagar, Vidisha, Raisen, Narmadapuram, Betul, Harda, Sehore, Shajapur, Dewas, Khandwa, Burhanpur, Khargone, Barwani, Dhar, Alirajpur, Jhabua, Ratlam, Mandsaur, Sheopur, Shivpuri, Ashoknagar, Guna, Rajgarh, Agar-Malwa, Satna, Maihar, Mauganj, Katni, Jabalpur, Dindori, and Neemuch.
What do meteorologists say?
The weather department has issued an alert for thunderstorms and rain in most parts of the state. Wind speeds may reach up to 40–60 km/h in these areas.
The monsoon, which reached India 8 days early this year, is expected to enter Madhya Pradesh by June 16 or 17. Although it was initially expected in early June, its movement was stalled over Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh for about 15 days. Now that it is advancing again, MP should see monsoon rains soon.
Last year, the monsoon arrived in the state on June 21, while the average arrival date is June 15.
Temperature records
The temperature soared above 40°C in several districts of Madhya Pradesh, including Damoh, Shajapur, Tikamgarh, Rewa, Narsinghpur, Khargone, Guna, Shivpuri, Umaria, Khandwa, Betul, and Sagar.
Among the five major cities Bhopal recorded 40.4°C, Indore recorded 38.8°C, Gwalior was the hottest at 42.5°C, Ujjain recorded 40°C and Jabalpur recorded 40.3°C.

June 16: Showers are expected to continue in Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Rewa, Sidhi, Singrauli, Panna, Damoh, Mandla, Balaghat, Seoni, Pandhurna, Chhindwara, Narsinghpur, Sagar, Vidisha, Raisen, Narmadapuram, Betul, Harda, Sehore, Shajapur, Dewas, Khandwa, Burhanpur, Khargone, Barwani, Dhar, Alirajpur, Jhabua, Ratlam, Mandsaur, Sheopur, Shivpuri, Ashoknagar, Guna, Rajgarh, Agar-Malwa, Satna, Maihar, Mauganj, Katni, Jabalpur, Umaria, Shahdol, Anuppur, Dindori, and Neemuch.
