MP Honey Trap Case: Harda-Based Farmer Held Hostage In Dhar For 28 Hours, 5 Held

Dhar (Madhya Pradesh): A farmer from Harda along with another was held hostage for 28 hours in Dhar and beaten and threatened with false accusations of rape in an attempt to extort Rs 12 lakh, a police official said.

As per reports, victim, Kapil Jat of Harda befriended a woman named Kirti Sharma on a social media site around three months ago. He was lured into a trap as Kirti called him to Dhar to meet her over a wedding invitation card.

He along with kin Rajendra Singh reached the woman’s house at Indrapuri Colony under Kotwali police station where they were house arrested and held hostage by a group of individuals. Not only this, they were beaten and coerced into complying with their demands.

They were threatened with false accusations of rape in an attempt to extort Rs 12 lakh. A video of the assault was sent to their family members to pressure them for extortion money. Upon receiving a tip-off from Kapil's family, the police acted swiftly.

They arrived at the location and found Kapil and another victim Rajendra Chauhan, confined in a back room. The police managed to rescue both men around midnight on Thursday.

Following the rescue, police arrested five individuals involved in the crime, including main accused Kirti Sharma and her husband, Shubhdeep, Anil, Sonu Soni and Akash Chhatri. They were presented before court on Thursday. Further investigations were underway in the case.
