Mhow: Thieves attack police, run away with rifle
A police constable has sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Mhow.

Mhow (Madhya Pradesh): A band of thieves attacked a police team and snatched away with a rifle in Mhow late Wednesday night, sources said.

According to information, a group of thieves barged into Colonel Academy School. They bashed up the security guard deployed at the school’s gate and snatched his rifle.
Then, they barged into the house of the school owner Kiran Bahadur nearby, but before they could burgle the place, the woman raised an alarm.
The woman's family, pet dogs and neighbours came to her rescue, following which the robbers fled the scene.
One of the residents informed the police and two policemen on patrolling duty rushed to the spot on their motorcycle.
The duo spotted the accused in a thicket near Gawlipalasiya village and asked them to surrender.
However, instead of surrendering, the accused hurled stones at the policemen and snatched an INSAS rifle from one of them, before fleeing.
Sources said that a police constable identified as Rajendra Jat sustained serious injuries. The thieves also snatched a rifle from Jat and escaped from there.
on getting information, senior police officials including DIG Chandrashekhar Solnaki have reached the spot. Several police teams have been fanned out in the area to search the accused, sources said.
