Jan Shiksha Kendra Official Sentenced To 6 Years For Bribery & Corruption In MP's Dhar

Dhar (Madhya Pradesh): The court of special judge in Dhar, on Tuesday, sentenced Trilok Singh Pawar, a functionary at the Jan Shiksha Kendra in Badnawar, to a total of six years in prison for bribery and corruption under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

The case was filed on December 1, 2013, when a written complaint detailed allegations against Pawar for demanding a bribe in exchange for processing necessary administrative documentation. The onset of the case began when the complainant, Dheeraj Kumar, reported to the SP at the Special Police Establishment Lokayukta Office in Indore.

Dheeraj Kumar, who was transferred from the district panchayat (DPC) Dhar to the Umarban block, faced bureaucratic hurdles when Pawar informed him that the necessary relieving letter had not been received, resulting in his attendance not being recorded. During a meeting on December 1, 2013, Pawar allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 8,000 to facilitate the issuance of this letter and to update the attendance sheet for the month of September.

Subsequent investigations led to a trap operation where, on December 3, 2013, Trilok Singh Pawar was caught red-handed, while accepting a bribe of Rs 2,000. The case proceeded through the legal system, culminating in Tuesday’s ruling. The special judge imposed a sentence of three years imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 2,000 for the offense under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act and an additional three years imprisonment with a fine of Rs 2,000 for violations under Section 13(1)(d) and Section 13(2) of the Act.
