Indore's SGSITS Secures UGC Autonomy Extension Until 2035 |

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Shri Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology & Science (SGSITS), the state's leading technical institution, has once again secured autonomous status from the University Grants Commission (UGC); this time till June, 2035. The prestigious institute has  autonomy since 1989.

The decision was made during a UGC meeting in January 2025, following a rigorous review process. SGSITS applied for the maximum possible extension of 10 years, which has been approved.

Affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi Technical Vishwavidyalaya and Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya , SGSITS utilises its autonomous status to design its own curriculum, conducts examinations and prepare results.

The institute has also been actively implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 for the past three years and is now seeking recognition as a Multidisciplinary Education & Research University (MERU).

Dr JT Andrews, nodal officer for UGC-Autonomy at SGSITS, expressed confidence that the extended autonomy will further strengthen the institute’s academic and research capabilities, enhancing its reputation as a leading centre for technical education in the region.
