Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The re-carpeting (repairing) of the runway at Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport here from 10.30 PM to 6.30 AM has had an adverse effect on flights.
Before the re-carpeting of the runway began on February 15 this year, the number of flights was 100 which has come down to 88 now.
This is being recorded in the report of flights and passengers being prepared daily by the local airport administration.
As per the daily reports, the total number of flights to and from the city has not reached 90 even for a single day this month, whereas some time ago 100 flights were being run daily from here.

This month, the number of flights is between 84 and 88. From July 1, IndiGo has stopped one flight each from here to Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Kolkata. Due to this, six flights have been reduced daily.
On the other hand, flights from Indore to Jodhpur, Udaipur and Nashik are also scheduled to stop operations from August 1.
The biggest reason for the falling number of flights is the airport being closed for 8 hours every night. Runway repair work has been going on since February this year.
Earlier, the flight operations were closed from 12 midnight to 6 AM, while from April, this time was extended from 10.30 PM to 6.30 AM. During this time, the flight operations remain closed. Due to the airport being closed for 8 hours daily, many airlines are unable to operate their flights from here even if they want to.
