Indore (Madhya Pradesh): In an action against banned plastic products, Indore Municipal Corporation conducted surprise inspections across several zones, leading to the imposition of spot fines totalling Rs 1.25 lakh on three establishments and the sealing of a major warehouse.
In Zone 15, a team led by additional municipal commissioner Abhilash Mishra raided a shop identified as Sanmati Traders. During the inspection, the team found banned polythene and plastic spoons on the premises, resulting in an immediate fine of Rs 25,000.
In a parallel operation in Zone 12, civic body officials took action against another establishment for similar violations. This time, a hefty fine of Rs 1 lakh was imposed for stocking large quantities of prohibited materials.
The most significant discovery came from a warehouse located directly opposite Sanmati Traders in Scheme Number 71. The Health Department team uncovered 150 sacks of polythene and over 50 sacks of plastic spoons stored inside.
Since the warehouse was actively stocking items whose sale is completely banned in Indore, it was sealed immediately.
