Dhar (Madhya Pradesh): A sudden fire broke out in a grain godown located in the Rajgarh Krishi Upaj Mandi premises of Sardarpur tehsil, Dhar district on Wednesday morning.
The fire started around 10:30 am when farmers noticed smoke rising from the warehouse and quickly informed the trader. The trader immediately called the fire brigade for assistance.
As the fire spread, it ignited eight bikes stored in the warehouse. The fire intensified due to the petrol in the bikes. Residents and traders rushed to help, bringing water to control the fire until the fire brigade arrived.
Firefighters worked diligently for two and a half hours to bring the blaze under control. Unfortunately, the fire destroyed approximately 100 quintals of soybean and three thousand gunny sacks stored in the warehouse.
The preliminary investigation by the police suggests that an electrical short circuit may have caused the fire.
Mandi administrator Asha Parmar, police station in-charge Deepak Singh Chauhan and Municipal Council president representative Mahesh Jaiswal were among the officials who arrived at the scene to assess the situation.
They coordinated efforts with three fire brigades, three private tankers and council water tankers to extinguish the flames.
Council vice president Deepak Jain said the team took charge of the situation and worked hard to control the fire.
Despite their efforts, the damage was significant, with eight bikes and large quantity of soybean and sacks lost to the flames. TI Deepak Singh Chauhan reported that while the fire was under control, smoke continued to rise from the remnants of the burnt materials.
