Congress Protests FIR Against Jitu Patwari’s Brothers & DCC President

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The Madhya Pradesh Congress held a protest here on Friday, following a land fraud case filed against MPCC president Jitu Patwari’s brothers Nana Patwari and Bharat Patwari and district Congress president Sadashiv Yadav. Former chief minister Digvijaya Singh led hundreds of party workers to the police commissioner’s office, demanding withdrawal of the cases and calling the action politically-driven.

Singh alleged that the charges were filed under pressure from the ruling BJP and lacked substantial evidence. He alleged, “We have seen repeated attempts to target Congress leaders through fabricated cases. Earlier, Chintu Chouksey was falsely implicated and now the same pattern is being repeated.”

Several senior Congress leaders participated in the protest, including city Congress president Surjeet Singh Chadda, IMC’s leader of opposition Chintu Chouksey, Pintu Joshi, Deepu Yadav, Reena Borasi, Neelabh Shukla, Amit Chaurasia, Sach Saluja and Aman Bajaj.

Addressing the media at Residency Kothi, Singh asserted that the disputed land belonged to the government. “This matter dates back to my tenure as chief minister in the mid-90s. It was government land earmarked for a Gwala Colony, but the plan was never executed.

The Yadav community later formed a trust to build a Gaushala and Krishna temple, but the trust was never officially notified,” he said, adding that government records showed no ownership claim by the complainant.

Singh also criticised the administration’s alleged bias, saying, “Since entering politics in 1971, I’ve never seen such blatant misuse of power. In Indore, Congress workers are being targeted while BJP leaders are spared.” He described the legal cases as part of a broader pattern of political harassment.
