Dhar (Madhya Pradesh): The statue of Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar was vandalised by unknown miscreants on Wednesday night in Jetpura. The incident follows pressure from the administration on villagers to remove the statue.
However, while villagers were at Naugaon police station to file a report about the initial vandalism, they learned that the statue had been broken again. This news sparked anger among the villagers, who raised slogans in protest.
Earlier too, when the statue was vandalised, it was replaced by the administration after Free Press repeatedly highlighted the issue.
Naugaon police station in-charge Sunil Sharma, Kotwali in-charge Sameer Patidar, SDM Roshni Patidar and CSP Ravindra Vaskel reached the spot to control the situation.
Villagers installed another statue but officials said that the villagers did not seek permission from the administration. In response, villagers argued that no permission is needed to honour a great leader.
Despite the objections, administration did not remove the statue this time. Police are investigating the incident and have identified two suspects by scrutinising CCTV footage. A case has been registered based on a complaint filed by Santosh Sisodia.
