Kolkata: The Central intelligence agencies have alerted the West Bengal government of a possible terror attack on Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari.
According to sources, the intelligence agencies mentioned that the fundamentalist outfits based in Bangladesh planned to attack Adhikari as he has been vocal against the atrocities and violence on the minorities residing in Bangladesh.
However, Adhikari said that he will continue with his work.
“I will not comment on this but can say Trinamool Congress (TMC) had earlier planned attacks on me and the common people of the state have protected me. Those whose nature is to attack others, let them do their work,” added Adhikari.
Adhikari is, however, entitled to “Z” category security.
On the other hand, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president and MoS Sukanta Majumdar slammed the state government after several terrorists were arrested from West Bengal.
Addressing a programme on the 100th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Majumdar alleged that the ‘TMC government has turned the state into a safe haven for jihadi elements from Bangladesh’.
“We the residents of West Bengal are in a very vulnerable condition. Terrorists are freely entering the state and are making fake documents to prove that they are Indian residents. They have more documents than the original Indians. The CM is busy pursuing her appeasement policy and taking no action against Islamic fundamentalists,” said Majumdar.
