A family from Barabanki attempted self-immolation outside Gate Number 4 of the Vidhan Sabha today, alleging that Barabanki police falsely implicated their son in a case and sent him to jail. Lucknow: A family from Barabanki attempted self-immolation outside Gate Number 4 of the Vidhan Sabha today, alleging that Barabanki police falsely implicated their son in a case and sent him to jail. Alert anti-self-immolation police deployed at the location swiftly intervened as family members tried to douse themselves with petrol brought in bottles.
The family's head, Janki Prasad of Bajgaini village in Ghunghter police station area, Barabanki, stated they came to Lucknow to attempt self-immolation out of distress over his son, Santosh Kumar, being wrongly imprisoned in a murder case. He claimed local authorities had ignored their pleas.
Janki Prasad was accompanied by his son Ankit, wife Urmila Devi, and other family members, including Pushpa Devi, Poonam Devi, Ramdulari, Sarita Bharti, and Pankaj. Police spotted the group walking on Vidhan Sabha Marg and immediately intercepted them as they retrieved the flammable liquid. The entire family has been taken to Hazratganj Kotwali for questioning.
