Lucknow: The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has temporarily halted the eviction order for the bungalow allocated to the Janeshwar Mishra Trust. Justices Rajan Roy and Manish Kumar issued this directive.
The bungalow, located at 7 Vikramaditya Marg, was originally allotted to the Trust on January 30, 2017, for a five-year period at a monthly rent of ₹72,000. This term was later extended to ten years under property department regulations.
However, a 2021 rule amendment restricted allocation periods to a maximum of five years. The government contends that based on this amendment, the bungalow's allocation expired on January 2, 2022.
The Trust, conversely, argues that this amendment should not be applied retrospectively.
The High Court questioned the government's continued acceptance of rent after the supposed expiration date in January 2022. The court has given the government three weeks to provide a response.

The next hearing is scheduled for the third week of August, until which time the bungalow's current status will remain unchanged. This decision allows Akhilesh Yadav to retain control of the bungalow for now.
