The Uttar Pradesh Food Department is developing an AI-driven feedback mechanism for its free ration scheme that serves 15.23 crore beneficiaries. The automated system will conduct monthly phone surveys to verify five specific aspects of ration distribution: whether beneficiaries receive full quantities, dealer behavior standards, existing operational challenges, quality control measures, and overall satisfaction levels.
Food Commissioner Ranveer Prasad explained the software's AI module will randomly select beneficiaries for verification calls without human intervention.
The program currently covers 64.43% urban and 79.53% rural populations under the National Food Security Act.

The initiative follows reports of distribution inconsistencies in some districts and will utilize the ₹8,500 crore annual budget more effectively through data-driven improvements.
Technical implementation involves coordination between the state's IT cell and the Food Corporation of India's monitoring systems. Survey results will directly inform corrective measures to enhance the scheme's efficiency and transparency across Uttar Pradesh's extensive public distribution network.
